Ed Tumminelli – Saxophone

Saxophonist, Ed Tumminelli started making “music” at the age of 10 in the school band. Ed began playing the clarinet and eventually picked up the saxophone in high school. While classically trained on the clarinet in college, it was on the sax that he found himself playing most often outside of school. In the last few years, Ed has added the flute and piccolo to his arsenal of lethal weapons.

Ed has earned undergrad and graduate degrees in music from Hofstra University and The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Among some of his former teachers are Naomi Drucker, Larry Guy, Jeff Lange, and Joel Levy. He currently studies with

Broadway musician, Steve Greenfield.

After completing a national tour, performing off-Broadway, and doing countless regional/local theater shows and club dates, Ed has assumed the position of director of bands at Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY. Here he directs and conducts the wind ensemble and jazz band. He currently freelances in the NYC/LI area and is a founding member and musical director of the Vegas style swing act, The Jumpers Orchestra.
Ed is psyched to be a member of Artificial Flavor and to have the opportunity to play with such great musicians.
